The I-35W South and North Highway project stands as a monumental testament to the capacity for infrastructure evolution and the pivotal role expert demolition plays in that evolution. The South Section: Laying the Groundwork for Growth

Our journey began in 2014, with the South Highway expansion project setting the stage for an extensive overhaul of I-35W. Tasked with a comprehensive scope of work that included 24 full structural demolitions, five building separations, and the removal of numerous billboards, canopies, and signs, our team meticulously navigated an 8-mile stretch to accommodate the widening efforts.

This phase demanded unparalleled coordination and strategic foresight, ensuring minimal disruption to the traffic of Fort Worth while methodically clearing the path for future development.

The North Section: Elevating Infrastructure

As we ventured north, the complexity of the project expanded to encompass bridge and pavement demolition. Our work on the North Section of I-35W brought about the demolition of 12 bridges, including their superstructures, abutments, and riprap walls. This segment of the project, marked by strategic hydraulic hammering and hand chiseling, spanned over 13 miles of pavement demolition. Throughout this intricate process, our collaboration with developers was crucial, allowing for phased pavement removal and the careful orchestration of overnight bridge demolitions to ensure the seamless flow of traffic through detours, road closures, and reopenings.
